"Why do we always take the same picture,
if not to interact with what already exists?
The photograph proves our presence.
And to be true, the picture will be perfectly consistent
with the pictures in our collective memory."
In this photo series, Corrine Vionnet layers hundreds and hundreds of opaque tourist photos of renowned world landmarks. Around the edges of the photo are people and changes in scenery, however the constant in the center shows the superimposed landmark captured from by millions of tourist, timeless in its repetition.
Which landmarks can you add your photo to?
Acropolis of Athens, Greece
Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany
Chichen Itza, Mexico
Eiffel Tower in Paris, France
Himeji Castle, Japan
Horseshoe Falls, Canada
Kinderdijk, Holland
La Alhambra, Granada
Louvre in Paris, France
Mecca, Saudia Arabia
Mount Fuji, Japan
Pyramids of Giza, Egypt
St. Basil's Cathedral, Moscow
Taj Mahal, India
Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China
Twin Towers in NYC, USA

Flower Power
From this...

...this
flower power remix
In retrospect, I should have
left more of the background "unpainted"
but it's too late to change it now.
Oh well -- duly noted for next time :)

| Boise Sunrise. With the fog and morning light this looks like a place I'd love to be. If you look very closely, you can see a deer in a clearing in the center left area of the picture (small dot, head poking above bushes, see detail). (Photo and caption by Glen Hush) |
